DVD to Quicktime?
30.October, 2008
I made a film on final cut and burned it onto a dvd using iDVD. However, I forgot to make a quicktime film on the DVD. I was wondering is there anyway to create a quicktime format out of the files on my dvd. Is there a program or would I have to take it to some kind of duplication store?
you need to redo it all, if you didn't use a dvd rewrite disc. nothing out there to add things to a already burned disc.
if its a rewrite disc, erase it and start over.
If you are 10 pounds, 35 pounds or 200 pounds over your ideal weight, and don’t know how to start on the road to a slimmer and happier life, try an exercise DVD. While it seems to be constantly in the paper, or on TV, it is no longer really “news” that the United States suffers from an obesity problem that borders on the epidemic. If you are a middle aged or older woman who suffers from this condition, it certainly comes as no surprise to you.
If you have “tried everything,” from every diet imaginable, to the local gym; from calorie counting to personal training; from high impact aerobics to expensive in home exercise contraptions, (to name but a few), and nothing has helped or held, you are the perfect candidate for isometric exercise. Even if you have stacks of celebrity training videos, this is truly new and different.
With isometric exercise you take 10 to 15 minutes of your relentlessly busy schedule, and leverage that brief time into the results you have been seeking. By practicing the simple to learn techniques of isometric exercise, you will translate your time and effort into energy, flexibility and strength, and drop those insidious pounds and inches, freeing yourself from the stress, frustration and additional health risks which actually contribute to the continuation or worsening of your condition.
See your Doctor, of course, prior to embarking on any new course of exercise or lifestyle change. She or he will be familiar with the concept of Isometrics, which is a course of training that involves contracting muscles without shortening the angle of the joint. “Isometric,” a combination the Greek prefix “iso,” (same), with the Greek term “metric” (distance), refers to the tensing or contraction of muscles without changing their length. Energy is expended by holding the contraction, thereby burning calories in a very low-impact manner.
The basics of re-forming yourself lie in proper nutrition, aerobics, (literally increasing oxygen in your system), and the exercise trio of stretching, resistance and strength training. Combined with simple breathing practices (which can be done anywhere, including sitting in traffic), you will begin to feel and see results in the first week. This quick success will increase your motivation, which will increase your desire to stay the course.
10 to 15 minutes of basic isometric exercise a day, most of which can be performed sitting in a chair in the privacy of your home, along with at least five daily instances of breathing practice, and smart eating gives you the tools to take control of your life and self-image by decreasing your body fat and increasing your vitality.
Learning advanced, but still simple, isometric exercise focused on weight loss can actually reduce your workout time to 10 minutes, by combining work on multiple muscle groups. Having tried everything else, try this. Invest a little time, and probably less cost than one month in most gyms. You will win by losing that which you most want to lose: weight and inches.
P90x
28.October, 2008
So you’ve seen the commercials, heard about it from your friends or colleagues, but you want to know what P90X REALLY is about. Not just “Oh man…it’s EXTREME!” Pull up a chair and I’ll give you an in depth look at the workout program that WILL change your life.
Let’s get right down to it and start with the workouts. Have you ever bought a workout video that was a half hour or forty-five minutes of a more talk than working out? Then the workout you do get is for beginners, or is better suited for your 12 year old? Yea, me too, but P90X is not it. First of all, they give you a full DVD on how to get the most of the workouts. The trainer, Tony Horton, gets serious, and gives you serious motivation to get the change in your body you are looking for. Then, they give you a whopping TWELVE DVDs. That’s twelve hour-long workouts! These guys are nuts! Not only are they twelve workouts, but also if you are not in shape like a professional athlete, you WILL NOT be able to finish the workouts. I’m serious, and so are the workouts. Their strength workouts are based on circuit type training. The strength workout DVDs are: chest and back; shoulders, triceps, bicep; back and legs; chest, shoulder, triceps; back and biceps and finally the “Ab Ripper X”, as they like to call it. Each one starts with a warm up and stretch, and each one has a cool down period…so you are completely done in 1 hour.
Now, I want to tell you about the chest and back a bit more. Basically, you rotate a chest exercise, then a back exercise. It starts out with pushups, then pull-ups. You will rotate regular grip, then wide grip then narrow grip and finally reverse grip (pull-ups). Tony then has you doing some decline and incline pushups, bent over rows, back flys and some crazy military push ups that the Navy SEALS have a hard time doing. There are of course a couple other exercises that I didn’t mention, but they are all variations of the above. So, with about 15 seconds rest in between each exercise, you finish the first round and you are SPENT! Then he says….”This is where most programs are finished….but not us! We’re not done!” And you look at the TV screen like..”Are you kidding me right now..I can’t even lift my arms over my head…..and you want me to get back on the pull up bar”??? Yea…that’s right…get back up there. But, don’t worry, about half way through the 90 days….you’re yelling back at the TV screen going…….bring it harder old man!!! (Oh yea..Tony is the most ripped 48 year old guy you have EVER seen….EVER!)
So, that about covers one DVD. The rest are more of the same torture (at first, then you realize you are a friggin’ animal, and begin to love that stuff). But wait, I’m not done! There are cardio workouts! Plyometrics, Yoga, Cardio X, and Core Synergistics. All of which will have you scraping the floor with your tongue if you are not already a marathon runner. Oh yea….I know someone who IS a marathon runner, and he STILL had trouble with these babies when he first started! Yea, these workouts are serious, so you should be too if you want to tackle them and get in the best shape of your life! Did I mention they give you a calendar and a workbook to track your progress and a 40-page guide to all of the workouts in addition to the DVDs? Yea…they do.
Let’s talk about the P90X nutrition plan now. So unless you are a professional athlete (actually….professional athletes can benefit from this nutrition guide too) you need this nutrition guide. It’s really like getting a masters degree in how our bodies work. After you read the P90X nutrition guide, you will want to sue someone every time you see the crap on TV and in the news about how to lose weight. Everyone is feeding us misinformation!! It’s crazy that the owners of these companies are not sent to jail!!! Because it’s a crime!! The P90X nutrition guide shows you IN DETAIL how EXACTLY to burn YOUR fat, and build YOUR muscle, not someone else’s fat and muscle. They take you step by step, calculate your energy requirements for rest, for exercise, for everything, then give you a solid number to hang your hat on, so you know every single day, that you are either losing fat, or not. In addition, they give you meal plans, down to the last calorie, carbohydrate and protein, so that you know EXACTLY what is going on in your body. No more guessing if you are losing weight because the scale might be wrong. The hell with the scale! You don’t need it! It’s throwing you off! Calculate your weight loss!! Then, in one month, look at it in your pictures….you will be astonished! In addition, P90X puts you on three different phases of your nutrition plan: a fat burning phase, a strength phase and an endurance phase. You can watch you body change each week in the mirror….it is totally crazy!!! They even give you an entire 90 days worth of meal recipes. If you don’t like those, they have a “Portion Plan”, so you can chose your own foods and still follow the plan. Of course, the online website has tons more recipes from other people that went through P90X who have submitted so others can benefit. This is the most complete, real, and healthy way to get super-fit that you will find anywhere…..I can guarantee that!!!

Why do some DVD burning programs say video files take up more space than other programs do?
26.October, 2008
I know that's pretty vague lol. I tried burning a DVD with Nero and I could fit four 23 minute avi files on the DVD. When I tried with Sony DVD Architect Pro, I can only get three and it says one takes up 1.5GB of the DVD. Is there a reason for this?
Also, is there a way to fit more videos on a DVD without compromising quality?
The reason it takes 1.5 GB is because it is encoded in high bitrate. You can try lowering the bitrate and some other settings.. I didnt use sony arvhitect Pro nor Nero so i dont no what can be done.. Try using this software DVD Flick :
http://rapidshare.com/files/94144372/DVD.Flick.1.2.1.2.smforum.net.rar
If the files dont fit try reducing the bitrate in DVD Flick.. The quality will be really good if you know about video compression and the settings you need to use to get a good video with reduced size..
Hope this Helps!
I purchased a video stabilizer to make copies of my childrens favorite videos but i am getting some tipe of static sound when playing the duplications. I do not get this sound when recording only when playing the copy. any ideas on how to fix this

Hi hotdog51570,
I have not had this problem. I am using a "Sima T120 GoDVD" stabalizer without any sound or video issues. My copies have been excellent.
Make sure your leads are all good. Try reversing the Red & White leads.

Legal Movie Downloads For Hassle-Free Entertainment
26.October, 2008
Just as the DVD revolutionized the movie industry, peer-to-peer (P2P) filesharing revolutionized the way that files are exchanged. It’s no wonder, then, that the two have long gone hand in hand, with many people turning to P2P for free, easy access to movies. However, just as with the music industry, the movie industry has started taking the legal issues of unauthorized copying and distribution of their movies very seriously. This has led to an increased interest, both by businesses and consumers, in legal movie downloads.
It’s the same battle still being fought by the music industry. Consumers want to be able to access their favorite entertainment titles quickly and conveniently, while distributors and film labels want to protect their products and their profits. In order to strike a balance between the two, new technology has been developed to make legal movie downloads possible without sacrificing the rights of the film industry.
The process isn’t without sacrifices though. Many legal movie downloads are limited to the movie itself, lacking the special features that have made DVDs such a success. Additionally, limitations on what the consumer can do with the movie once it’s downloaded are viewed as excessive by many consumers, who feel that they should have the right to do what they wish with their purchased files.
Many download services prevent consumers from burning their files to DVD discs, limiting their viewability to the machine to which they were originally downloaded. Some will allow DVDs to be created a limited number of times (often only once), or impose limitations on whether the files can be copied. Where DVDs can be transported just about anywhere, and viewed on any compatible machine, downloaded files aren’t as easily portable, even if stored on a laptop. Another problem exists if a situation arises where the user has to reformat his machine; if they’re unable to save the file in some way, they may have to repurchase the title or forfeit it altogether.
With these limitations, why are consumers still interested in legal movie downloads instead of pirated copies available via P2P? By downloading through approved, legal avenues, they’re relatively assured that the file they get will be of high quality, and safe for use. P2P files are sometimes infected with viruses, or turn out not to be what they claim to be. Considering the lengthy time investment often associated with these downloads, this can be frustrating and disappointing. Legitimate downloads eliminate these concerns, and give customers the peace of mind in knowing that they have legally obtained their merchandise.
Because of this, the interest in legal movie downloads is on the rise. The film industry is still working on new ways to make movies available for download without compromising their sales, while customers are keen to find legal ways to obtain their movies without crippling limitations. As the trend towards downloadable entertainment continues, new technologies are developed to make it a winning proposition for all involved.
What DVD burning software can i use to burn Downloaded movies that are in mpg or avi format?
24.October, 2008
Nero doesnt do it nor does DVD shrink. Is there any other software that i can download that will allow me burn these file to a DVD
running win XP Pro sp2
You need to run a conversion software to convert the avi format to DVD format in order to be able to play on a stand alone DVD player. The one I am using now is called convertxtodvd. You have to pay for it, but it is so easy to use. Just drag and drop the file you want converted into a box and click 1 button. It will even burn it for you too. And it's a relatively quick process. (Depends on your PC and the DVD burner). This support many formats. Including the one you want.
