Can anyone recommend a decent simple to use DVD burning software?
29.November, 2008
Something that can be used on relatively low spec machine, something that is as simple as drag-and-drop and then click start.
Must be able to burn files to DVD and CD and create standard music cd's.
Also something cheap, less then £20.
Thankyou.
Something I can just install, click on the icon on the desktop and drag and drop files into a list or add them to a list.
Put a disc in the drive and press start.
Something that simple would be great.
I did get software with the burner but it is just useless.
Nero is very good and user friendly. You can download the trial here and see if you like it.

What is a good free DVD burning software to burn movies?
27.November, 2008
I have DVDShrink, and love it, but it doesn't BURN DVDs. My copy of NERO bugged out and crashed, I have no backup for NERO - therefore nothing to burn to DVD with - I need to either find something that will compress AND burn, or I can use DVDShrink to compress - but I need free burning software. Thanks.
So, I'm asking for something other than NERO if available.
I don't think DVD decrypt or DVDshrink can BURN DVDs. Also, I don't want some crack, I just want freeware or shareware that can burn DVDs.
I use DVD Decrypter in conjuction with DVD Shrink

What free DVD burning software can I use to make an extra copy of Norton Ghost 12 for myself?
15.November, 2008
I have Nero, but I'm assuming that there's DRM or CSS protecting the DVD from being copied and Nero will be unable to break the encryption.
I've searched on the web, but they all refer to burning DVD movies, when I just want to burn an extra copy of DVD software.
Also, the Norton Ghost 12 DVD is bootable and I want the copy to be bootable as well.
Have you actually tried Nero and had it fail? DRM and CSS are copy protections to protect copyrighted material, but I have never heard of any manufacturers using them on just data CDs. I have never had a problem copying any DATA cd. If you have 2 CD drives, try doing a CD to CD copy with Nero–I once copied a Windows XP CD with that method and it worked fine. Or another option would be to copy the contents onto your hard drive then just burn it onto a blank CD-R (you will need a bootable disk handy to make it bootable using that method).

Can i copy a dvd that has a public domain movie on it?
12.November, 2008
I Bought a DVD of a movie that is public domain. The case says that "duplication is prohibited" Can i copy just the video part, which is the public domain part and not the DVD menus and other original work off the DVD and sell or distribute it.
Interesting response from a DVD forum:
Even if a work is in the public domain, that does not mean it is completely without protection.
If I make a DVD of a public domain film, I can copyright my DVD version of it and that protects me from someone duplicating my work and making a profit off it. They are free to get their own source copy of the work and create their own DVD but they can't copy mine.
This is why companies like Something Weird that specialize in public domain films have valuable properties. They have pristine master prints and make their own copyrighted DVD's off those prints, which means anyone else wanting to make a DVD of the film would have to get his own master print, which is virtually impossible in many cases.
