Needed some help, am not all that computer savvy… I wanted to get Some DVD burning software free.. How do i go about it… How about getting NERO free or any other similar software for my Windows Vista Notebook,
you help would be really apprecated.. Thanks a lot guys..

I have Nero, but I'm assuming that there's DRM or CSS protecting the DVD from being copied and Nero will be unable to break the encryption.

I've searched on the web, but they all refer to burning DVD movies, when I just want to burn an extra copy of DVD software.

Also, the Norton Ghost 12 DVD is bootable and I want the copy to be bootable as well.

Have you actually tried Nero and had it fail? DRM and CSS are copy protections to protect copyrighted material, but I have never heard of any manufacturers using them on just data CDs. I have never had a problem copying any DATA cd. If you have 2 CD drives, try doing a CD to CD copy with Nero–I once copied a Windows XP CD with that method and it worked fine. Or another option would be to copy the contents onto your hard drive then just burn it onto a blank CD-R (you will need a bootable disk handy to make it bootable using that method).

i have u-lead now and it doesn’t burn the whole movie. i need the program to convert from avi to dvd format.

With the quick demise of the old VHS Magnetic Tapes and more recent VCDs, DVD recording is becoming popular. DVD recorders work by ‘burning/etching’ via a laser to a blank DVD disk. Still, a DVD recorder resembles and functions very much like a VCR.

All DVD recorders can record from any analog video source. It can also record directly from digital camcorders via an i-link input through Firewire and IEEE1394. I need a program which will let me burn the videos on my pc onto a dvd. All the programs I have tried have been trial versions and, therefore, expired. Are there any free programs I can use that are not trial versions?

I have tried burning dvds using both dvd-r and dvd+r but I can play them on my computer but not on my dvd player.

The better the video quality, the higher the bit rate used in recording, meaning the video will take up more space (and you can't fit as much on one dvd as you could at a lower setting).

Usually the high quality settings will limit you to 1 or 2 hours of recording time on a regular DVD (not dual layer). The lower settings can get you 3-8 depending on what your model of DVD player offers.

Best thing to do is a test run… record/ burn a few minutes at each speed, and see what the different qualities look like to you on playback. Then you'll know if you go for a certain amount of time on each dvd what to expect on playback at those settings.
