Outsourcing DVD Duplication or Replication
21.February, 2010
DVD duplication or replication outsourcing is a wise idea if you are looking to save time and resources by not doing it yourself. Either an individual or a corporation does have DVD duplication or replication requirements from time to time. Individuals usually carry out their own DVD duplication if they have a DVD R/RW installed on their PCs. If not, they would have to outsource, but their requirements are relatively small.
Corporations on the other hand have bigger DVD duplication or replication requirements, for example, they may need to distribute thousands of DVDâs to their existing or potential customers as an insert in their product catalogue. This kind of a job calls for outsourcing to a professional DVD replication company because it simply will not be cost-effective to it in-house.
By outsourcing your DVD duplication or replication job to a reputed company, you are actually setting yourself free from a lot of hassle. For example:
- You will get your project done on time and within the budget.
- No quality issues to worry about.
- Any mishandling on their part will be their own responsibility, not yours.
- Quicker turnaround time for repetitive replication jobs.
- No limit on the number of duplications or replications.
- Much cheaper as compared to replicating DVDs in-house.
- No need to hire staff and train them on replication techniques.
- No need to invest on expensive DVD R/RW equipment and racks.
- Artwork for your DVDs can be designed by the replication company if required.
- Printing of covers for your DVD replicas will be taken care of.
- Packaging will also be taken care of.
Â
When you decide to select the company to outsource your DVD duplication or replication job, you need to take some factors into consideration in order to select the right company according to your needs. Consider the following:
- The company should have a policy in place to reach an agreement on the proof of your replication or duplication job. So you would know exactly what your final product will look like. If it is not up to your expectations, you can always refer to the proof agreement.
- The company should have a quality assurance policy in place, which should guarantee quality of the end product. The QA policy should also clearly state who will be responsible in case of damage of DVDs during transportation.
- Their pricing policy should be free of confusions without any hidden charges.
- Turnaround time should be estimated in the initial phases and an agreement should be reached. After the agreement, the replication company should stick to it.

6 Smart Tips to Ensure Quality Artwork for CD DVD Duplication
17.February, 2010
Quality is the foremost thing that one expects from CD and DVD duplication work. And artwork (that is the design or content printed on the face of the CD or DVD) plays an important role in ensuring good quality output in the CD and DVD duplication process.
No matter which CD or DVD duplication service providing company you want to deal with, you must ensure that the digital artwork printed in the CD or DVD duplication process is of good quality. It is a well known fact that good packaging makes the first impression. If you can produce attractive artwork for your CD or DVD, and the duplication process can print it without glitches on the face of the discs, your product would look much more appealing. Fancy graphics and text that are used in the artwork of the disc gives a unique identity to the CDs and DVDs.
To help you get the best quality artwork on your printed CDs and DVDs here are some easy tips.
1. High resolution file
You can create your artwork in various graphic tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign or Quark Express. But remember to have the resolution of the final files at least 300 DPI (dots per inch) or higher. By maintaining this minimum resolution you can get better printing quality on CD and DVD surfaces. Also make sure that the images are not downloaded from the web or other low-resolution sources.
2. Specialized fonts
Special fonts lend a unique touch to the artwork. And in case you are planning to use some special fonts in your artwork, you must send the specialized fonts to the service provider along with the artwork files. This is important as the CD and DVD duplication service providing company might not necessarily have that font. Searching the net to download the exact font is not worth the effort as it may lead to unnecessary delays. If you donât know the process of sending the fonts then you can convert the text to outlines with the help of Photoshop and Illustrator.
3. Send the source images
The source link of the images used in the artwork must be send to the CD and DVD duplication service provider so that they can verify the quality of the images used in the artwork before printing. This helps the service provider to deliver a better print quality.
4. Create the right bleed
Adding a 1/8? bleed all the way around must be maintained so that the CD and DVD duplication service provider have an idea about the text or images that are not meant to be trimmed off the edge during the final printing process.
5. Use layered art files
Instead of sending flattened artwork, try to send the artwork to the CD and DVD duplication service provider in layered art file format. This way the service providers can make the minor changes if required to give the artwork a professional touch.
6. Test the master disc
To be on the safer side test your master disc before sending it to the CD and DVD duplication service provider. Check the image quality, the spelling of the text used and the color scheme. With proper testing, you would be able to spot the errors and remove them in time.
Remember these above mentioned simple tips and your CD duplication or DVD duplication job will run smoothly with no need for hurried last minute changes.

I finally found a great place for CD duplication in New York. DupeCoop on West 26 in Manhattan (http://dupecoop.net) did an amazing job. The CDs look and sound fantastic. They are the best for CD copies in NYC by far. I’m now doing DVD copies at DupeCoop for my video.
Question: What’s the best place to sell/distribute my CDs on the web?

HELP! MacBook Pro DVD stuck!?
20.October, 2009
I have a macbook pro through my school and I was watching a dvd in it and apparently it started running some kind of duplication to my desktop, but I tried to stop the duplication and it will not stop and I can’t eject the dvd or shut my computer down! HELP!
I found out how to eject the cd by going to a bunch of mac forums! You just have to click option-command/apple-escape and tell the computer to relaunch the finder! AMAZING! I was soooo happy!
There should be a little hole, either under the dvd drawer or somewhere in the vicinity.
Use the end of a paper clip or something similar to stick in the hole, this usually releases the drawer.
EDIT.
Glad you managed it ok, I`d be interested to know if you get the little hole on a mac, the same as a pc.
It`s very tiny, when the same happened to me I was on the phone to tech support but couldn`t find the hole they were talking about, but managed to find it later and ejected the cd.
Top 8 Reasons to Promote Your Business Using DVD
07.October, 2009
1. DVD duplication provides a single delivery method for marketing and promotional information that cannot be matched by any other form of direct marketing:
* The visual impact of Television.
* The audio impression of Radio.
* The detail of a Catalogue.
* The targeting of Direct Mail.
* The interactivity of the Internet.
* The cost-effectiveness of Commercial Print.
* The sophistication of New Media.
Through the use of multimedia design, DVDs can relate sounds, images, ideas, and information that can inspire, educate, stimulate, and even entertain the viewer or listener.
2. The best way to stand out from the crowd is to do something unique, different and, whenever possible, something different than what your competitors are doing. Despite the incredibly powerful message that DVDs can deliver, the vast majority of direct-marketing is still done using ‘traditional’ means: Bulky catalogues, clumsy brochures and all manner of junk-mail. Or in other words - fodder for garbage cans and recycling bins.
What’s going to gain you more attention: (A) Sending another piece of junk-mail just like all your competitors do, or (B) providing a unique and meaningful presentation via DVD? The answer, of course, is “B”.
3. Not only does the result of DVD duplication get you noticed, the unique and innovative approach to your marketing makes the all important “good first impression” with your prospect or client. By association, if your message is viewed as being innovative, original and professional, then you also get viewed in the same light and thought of as being progressive, forward-thinking and creative.
4. Due to it being a more unique method of marketing communication, DVD duplication marketing pieces have greater longevity and ‘pass around’ value compared to other types of direct-to-client marketing. It’s a unique and memorable means of contact, which gives it a perception of value and of being worth viewing. This is especially true for Mini DVD due to its small size.
5. Research has shown a response rate between 50% and 600% greater than traditional direct-mail marketing (ie: typical print direct mail generating 1-2% response rates versus disc direct mail generating between 3% and 12% response rates).
6. Research has shown that memory retention is 50% to 60% greater with disc-based multimedia presentations than traditional printed materials (ie: 10-20% retention with print versus 40-60% with discs).
7. DVDs are more cost effective to manufacture and distribute (in many cases 10% to 40% less expensive) than catalogues, brochures, booklets, etc. Additional savings are realized on postage/shipping costs due to the reduced weight when compared to many printed pieces.
8. Discs are the only physical media which has the ability to link through to your website for immediate contact, breaking news, premium/incentive offerings, additional information, etc. Marketing through DVD duplication helps to drive website traffic, measure responses to your marketing campaign, generate web-commerce and provides increased hits to support on-line advertising revenue streams.
When you combine the dynamic and meaningful message with such a unique and practical delivery method and then factor in the low-cost of manufacturing and distribution, you will find no better means to promote your business, products and services.

Samsung LN46A650 LCD TV Review-Do Not Miss This Excellent 46″ HDTV With Amazon Super Saver Free Shipping!
03.October, 2009
I have purchased Samsung LN46A650 LCD TV little time after it was first available at Amazon upgrading my older Phillips 55″ rear projection 1080i capable TV. I’ve owned it now for a month. I have used it with basic (non-HD) cable, basic Tivo viewing (again, non-HD), upscaled DVD viewing, HD-DVD viewing, and blue-ray viewing. And I have paired it with a Yamaha 3000 soundbar. My entertainment watching has never been better than now with .
Before purchasing Samsung LN46A650 LCD TV, Like many people looking for the best TV I did a lot of research before dropping this kind of money on a new TV and it eventually came down to the Samsung TV like many people as well or one of the Sony XBRs. IMO these actually are the only competitive mid-range/high end flat-screens to consider before purchase. Due to the Burn in issue (which isn’t as bad as it was in earlier generation of Plasmas) I have never considered a plasma TV, though they are actually a little more inexpensive and often they also have at least as good a picture as the LCD TVs.
As you have probably read outside of the several hundred dollar premium for the Sony brand, the main difference is that the Samsungs specially have a shiny screen so in high light rooms there can be some reflection compared to the matte XBR screens. I generally can control the light levels during the time I’m viewing the TV so the vibrancy of the Samsung in mid/low light conditions made the choice much easier.
At the beginning and before purchasing Samsung LN46A650 LCD TV I was going to go with a 4671f until seeing the “new” 46A650 model and decided then to get the new version instead. There have been obviously visual quality improvements with the motion tracking technology with of the second generation which goes a long way to eliminating the blurring and object duplication (TBE or the “Triple Ball Effect”).
Now let’s move to discuss other excellent and the most issues with this fantastic TV.
*VISUALS*
Without a single doubt, the visuals on blu-ray content of Samsung LN46A650 LCD TV are really jaw dropping. This is to be expected with something like the “Planet Earth” movie which is built around its lush visuals, even in non-HD, but even some scenes in movies that I would not consider prime HD material I am often totally very impressed (there are some garden scenes in “Walk Hard” that are highly eye-popping!).
Finally, In my TV room I have three spots where people watch TV from. With many LCDs the screen dims and the vitality of the colors bleeds down if you get too far off center from the set. But with this LCD, that is not a problem at all.
*PHYSICAL*
I was a little wary about the “Touch of Color” of Samsung LN46A650 LCD TV, but in a darker room it isn’t so obtrusive because it fades to deep red quickly which looks black in lower light. I certainly think the red highlight actually looks really very cool! It is far more pleasing to my eye then just a plain silver or black.
There are plenty of inputs for HDMI and any other connection type you can think of on the hardware end of the TV. I have a full set of components and every single thing plugs right in and works well.
All I can honestly and certainly say is that I am so pleased with this Samsung LN46A650 LCD TV I can barely describe it because it offers more fantastic features than what I just described here! Physically it looks really stunning, visually it’s one of the best out there you can ever find
