Not every christian celebrate Christmas!
I'm a christian, but I do not consider a special day December 25.
According to the gospel of Luke Jesus was born in a time when the sheperds slept outside in the night!

the peace be with you!

great information

the teacher in me is coming out and i do have to say for an essay, it would be more scholarly if there were references to back up the facts and not so much a personal voice in the essay [with the exclamation points] -sorry, my teacher button needs to be turned off during this winter break

anyway, i totally agree and have done my own research on December 25th which included this information- I held this view when I was Christian also, as does my practicing Christan mother
References :
Pagans went in circles around the Kaaba and now Muslims do.
Pagans fasted for a month and now Muslims do
Pagans had a god named Allah and now Muslims do.
Pagans performed rituals like ablution and now Muslims do.

See how easy that is and I didn't even win a biased essay contest!

Jesus is Lord and the Angels rejoiced at His birth! Jesus' birth is greater than any other belief that might have existed.

Merry Christmas

Luke 2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
References :
What is Christmas?

Christmas is really a time for peace, unity and joy - and if religiously, a time for celebrating Jesus Christ's birthday.

Merry Christmas to ye all. Ho ho ho.
Eat your mince pies with custard and enjoy. Grow fat on sweet Christmas cake, not on sour grapes.
References :
What is Christmas? (Winner of Quranic network Essay Competition Dec'98)?
•Christmas is celebrated throughout the world by Christians. They say that the celebrate it for the birth of Jesus. But Christmas really doesn't have anything to do with Jesus. In fact it is nothing more than a Pagan festival !

•The legend of Santa Clause originated from Pagan customs. The history of Santa Clause begins with a man named Saint Nickoles. He was said to come from a rich family and posses magical powers. The modern day version of Santa Clause comes from a cartoonist in the 1860's. Santa Clause has become the most important Christian tradition but it has nothing to do with Jesus!

•The Christmas tree and the lights that you see in and outside people's houses also originated from Pagan customs. The concept of the Christmas tree started in Egypt and then was carried on by the Romans. For many a decorated Christmas tree symbolized the tree of life in the garden of Eden. We should not believe in this because there is no tree of life in the garden of Eden! The moderate practice of decorating buildings with lights originates froma Pagan custom of lighting fires and candles during the solstice season, to encourage the son god as he reached the lowest point in the sky. Of course we don't believe in this because we know there is no son god.

•The exchanging of Christmas presents is another important Pagan custom that the Christians have adopted. The exchanging of gifts does not have anything to do at all with Jesus. Christians don't even celebrate Christmas on the night month! The exact day of the birth of Jesus Christ is not known but his birthday is most probaly in September not December. Even Christans themselves wonder the question " If god had intended us to celebrate the birthday of Jesus, why then didin't he reveal the exact date of his birth to us in the Scriptures?" December 25 was chosen by the Pagans because it was already a holiday celebrated in ancient times. Christians say that December 25 is the birthday of Jesus Christ but it is nothing more than a Pagan holiday!

•The Christmas star, Christmas stockings, and the mistletoe are all pagan customs. The mistletoe was used at festivals by Pagans because it was believed to be sacred to the sun and have miraculous healing powers. Christmas stockings originated from a Pagan tale. The tale says that a Saint threw a piece of gold into the stockings of three girls that needed the money to get married. The christmas star originated when Pagans looked upon stars as Gods and created myths about them. All of these things are related to Pagans and have nothing to do about Jesus!

•So as you can see Christmas has nothing to do with Jesus. It's not even celebrated in the right month! The things that Christians talk most about - Santa Claus, the Christmas tree, the house decorations, the exchanging of gifts, the Christmas star, the stockings, and the mistletoe have nothing to do with Jesus at all. Christmas is not a Christian holiday in fact it is nothing more than Pagan customs. This is exactly why, we, as Muslims, should not celebrate or even take part in anything to do with Christmas!

1. Yankees.
2. Whoever is going to start in our 5th spot this year. Everyone else (for the most part) has proved themselves.
3. Nick Johnson for Hideki Matsui.
4. Nick Swisher.. and I'm not sure where I'd send him. Maybe back to the White Sox if that's where he wanted to go? I don't know!
5. Derek Jeter to the Red Sox. LOL, I don't even know how to explain how I'd react. I'd probably think it was some sort of sick joke and not believe it until I saw him playing for them. And yet.. I'd have to wish him the best because I love him so much! But I'd be speechless.
6. Derek Jeter, if anyone could do it he can. He makes things happen.
7. Andy Pettitte, he has the postseason experience.

BQs:
1. Albert Puljos, Chase Utley, David Wright.
2. No clue.
References :
1. Boston Red Sox
2. Umm.. wow that's so hard. I can't even choose. If Lackey doesn't do well this season then him, but if I had to choose at this moment.. I don't know. Buchholz I guess if I HAD to choose =/
3. Angels. Torii Hunter for Mike Cameron.
4. Noooo, come back Jacoby! =P I would be sad but wish him luck. Wouldn't mind where he goes as long as it's not the Yankees!!!!
5. I can't believe Pedroia would EVER go to the Yankees. Ever. He's not that kind of guy who would sign with the biggest rival just because they're offering more money. (And I would cry, lol.)
6. Probably Victor Martinez, he was so clutch when he was with the Sox the second half.
7. On my team... Jon Lester. You know what's interesting, Lackey, Lester AND Beckett have all won the deciding Game 7 of a World Series, and all before the age of 24. Pretty cool =)

EDIT: Ah sorry I forgot the BQs!

BQ1: NL... Pujols. I like Chase Utley as well and I guess.. Ryan Howard.
BQ2: Matt Kemp of course =P And.. Jayson Werth I think, and Andre Ethier?
