I want to burn a movie i have downloaded onto a dvd disc from my pc. What dvd discs do i need to burn onto which i can then watch from a dvd player?
You would either need DVD-RW or DVD-R
DVD-RW means you will be able to add to it once you have put everything on it and will be able to edit it.
DVD-R means once you have put the movie on it you wont be able to change it.
the website below sell both types;

unfortunately, it depends on the player you intend to play it on. i've been doing this for a while and i loan discs to many people, the only discs that seems to play on every player are dvd-r. the problem is now movies are too long to use regular dvds and the only dual layers readily availavle are dvd+r. these only work on high end players. luckily i found a site that has dvd-r dual layer dvds, http://www.burnsmart.com. it's trial and error for your needs tho.

the problem is not with the DVD.
you should use Nero Burning Room to burn such kind of DVD
just choose Video DVD in the Nero and it will take care of the rest
