As I look around the world today, I can't help but laugh. Americans and corporate American Businesses are going down the drain. So many are completly focused on profits, and not enough on their employees, their products, or their service. What's happening? Businesses should not be focusing on profit margins as much as they are the communities around them and the people they affect. To respond to this, I was asking what the viewers thought of a new idea for a business I'm launching. It's a small scall video production agency, which provides low-cost video production, duplication and DVD authoring. When I launch this business though, I don't want to let the community swindle away as businesses grow. So I was considering a donation plan such as this: We will donate 5% of all profits to the school of the consumers choice, along with another 5% to the charity of their choice. That's not all, and I'll post more information later, but do you people have any other ideas to help give back?

I think you guys completly missed what I was saying. Yes, I did post the above comment, and I'm using a second account to help explain a few things. For starters, I was not discussing simple throwing away the books, jumping on the floor and giving every last dime to the peace-corp so they can go around and claim success. I was actually discussing the concept of improving american business through means to give back to the community. If people don't give back to the community, what's happens to them? How can you even stand to work in a community that you just let crumble. By the way, for people who believe I've got no concept of business, I've spent over 1 1/2 years literally planning every step of my business. I've covered every imaginable expense, every start-up fee, ran every profit margin available, phasing plans for 3 years, every information bit I need, and also have had time to line up investors to keep my dream pushing forward. Sure Businesses need to stay focused on keeping their profit margins within reach and still make a healty profit, but must they make/take so much? I'm not lying or making anything up when I state that the majority of larger businesses can afford to cut some of their profits and reinvest them back into the society that they recruit from! I'm just sick and tired of every business flat out saying, we need to make a profit of at least 500 million this term, so that next term we can raise again make another 500 million, and then take it and swim in it. Is this crazy or what? That's basically what some businesses are doing.

And for the person who said that it's the same as second goverment, give over it. The goverment rarely can actually help at the community level, and when it does, it generally fails. Businesses and individuals are what should be contribuiting to the community, not the goverment.

I have tried burning dvds using both dvd-r and dvd+r but I can play them on my computer but not on my dvd player.

I have an interview for a sales position for a Multimedia/Video Editing company. What kinds of sales would a video editing, DVD/CD duplication company do?

I'm not 100% what the position entails, but the guy liked my resume. I am a Video Editor/Project Coordiantor, and I want out of the editing business. I know in the TV industry sales is where the money is at. I'm just not sure what this position will be like.

At my company, we don't do sales (and this company that wants to interview me is just like my current company). So L'm not sure what to expect! The only sales I currently do is when people come to my company and ask what we do, what we can do for them, and the cost!

Any help would be appreciated.

Ok the key here is going in with the attitude that you are an open book. You will not be able to come across has a seasoned sales person and the interviewer knows that. What the interviewer will be looking for is your techinical knowledge and your excitement level. So research has much has you can about the company and what they do. Then in the interview show enthusiasm and be able to answer why you would like to work for that company specifically. I provided a link to my website for more interview tips.

I want to burn a DVD, and I was wondering which I should pick?
Will any of them make the quality and sound better?
Any suggestions would be great!

Thank You.

In ranking those video qualities-

SP- best
LP
EP

The better the video quality, the higher the bit rate used in recording, meaning the video will take up more space (and you can't fit as much on one dvd as you could at a lower setting).

Usually the high quality settings will limit you to 1 or 2 hours of recording time on a regular DVD (not dual layer). The lower settings can get you 3-8 depending on what your model of DVD player offers.

Best thing to do is a test run… record/ burn a few minutes at each speed, and see what the different qualities look like to you on playback. Then you'll know if you go for a certain amount of time on each dvd what to expect on playback at those settings.

The Long Way Round, did Ewen McGregor have any influence over Charlie regarding BMW or the KTM motor cycles?

No. They both wanted KTM. At the last moment KTM felt the trip would be a failure and did not want the negative publicity this might have caused. BMW saved the day.

Personally I think both bikes were far too heavy. They would have had more luck with a couple of Yamaha XT600's or similar.

what is a easter egg on a DVD?

02.November, 2008

here in australia some cases and jackets on a dvd movie say contains a easter egg or eggs in the extras, what the hell is a easter egg, i worked in the vidoe duplication industry for 13years and have never heard of a easter egg

An 'easter egg' is a hidden segment that program writers or dvd creator hide withing the menu. It might be an outtake, some special interview, or just a joke. Lately, so-called easter eggs have been planted and publicized by the dvd maker.

Here's one site where I find many easter eggs on dvd's regularly. Be sure you are looking for the right region version.

How long does it take you to drive to the gym? To psych yourself up to go after a day at the office solving other people’s problems, shuttling your kids around, or just worrying about your children and, if you’re blessed, grandchildren? If you’re like most of us, I’ll bet it’s more than ten minutes each. How much time do you spend taking care of yourself? I’ll wager less than ten minutes. The stress, the tension, the exhaustion takes its toll on your mind and your body. At the end of the day, who do you see in the mirror?

You may ask, how does this relate to Isometric Exercise? Odds are, you never made it to the gym, you didn’t get any exercise, and you ate on the run, and the mirror is not your friend. The DVD player is your friend. It’s your escape to another world. Let it be the escape into your new world. Isometric Exercise will teach you to take ten minutes in your day and regain everything you have just spent, or spent ten minutes thinking about spending, and translate it into energy, flexibility and strength, and, in a low impact manner, combined with the correct breathing, help you reduce weight, inches and stress.

Isometric Exercise involves contracting muscles without shortening the angle of the joint. “Isometric” combines the prefix “iso” (same) with “metric” (distance); in these exercises the length of the muscle does not change. Meaning what? Meaning you expend energy, thereby burning calories, by holding the contraction.

Slow, rhythmic breathing, as in yoga, permeates your body with much needed oxygen, producing low impact effective workout without the heavy breathing of aerobics.

Walking, biking, etc., help, if it’s right for you, but no need to push. No ride to the gym, no expensive equipment, no trendy outfits. No angst; just you, alone, with the mirror that within a week will become your friend. The mirror will help you maintain correct positioning for stretching and exercise. You can see and feel results in days, and lose pounds and inches within a week

Isometric exercise will allow you, in less time than to takes to watch a movie, to take control of your life and self-image. Whether you are ten pounds, thirty pounds or two hundred pounds from you goal, staying with the program, which takes less time than making your shopping list, will increase your vitality, and decrease your body fat.

These still simple weight loss exercises actually reduce your workout time by combining techniques. Most of this can be done in a chair, or on your carpet. Do you have special needs? You can still take advantage of isometric exercise. A specialized trainer can help you tailor the techniques to your situation – whatever your situation. For less than the cost of one month in most gyms you can learn isometric exercise in the comfort of your home and you can become the person you want be, and turn some heads in the process. Invest in yourself.

Friend records on Sony dcr-trv260 (D8) camera and transfers through FireWire to Samsung DVD-R120 DVD Player/Burner. Finalizes the disk (no embedded copy protection). Plays fine 99% of time on the Samsung and 60% of time on Panasonic DVD-RV32 player.

Duplicates with Aleratec CopyCruiserPro & blank Verbatim DVD-R 16X with CCP at slowest speed (1x). Most times it copies 1 hour of video in 5-8 mins & says it was successful. Copy plays fine 95+% of time on the Samsung but only 30% of time on the Panasonic.

He's using Verbatims over 1.5 yrs & until last month only had playability issues with 1% of the copies he sent out (out of 600+). Now almost every one has digital stuttering & playability problems. Most play fine on Samsung, but all give problems on Panasonic with customer complaints.

2 of the new masters from 2 days ago give BAD DISK ERRORS when used as master in the CCP & duplication process does not complete. That has NOT happened before & nothing in the process has changed.

Help??

Bad media or bad drive. In the future save some older media to confirm this. DVDs are created in batches and the whole batch may be affected. Search for some slower media at one of the smaller stores to get some older DVD media. If these burn fine then it's just a bad batch of DVDs you got. If they also turn out crappy then it may be time to replace the DVD burner. They do wear out eventually.
